I can’t imagine a UK court considering a case for ‘damages/wrongful death’ from a hotel, where the guest willingly took a prostitute back to their room and overdosed on fentanyl.

As you say, only in the USA.

He was a 55 year old adult who played away from home to great cost. I can understand his wife looking to blame someone hence the court case, surely a judge would throw it out?

From the article it seems the man died after being fed the drug by the prostitute and the pimp, both of whom were known as wrong uns by the hotel.

I don't know how exclusive or expensive that hotel is, but the poor widow must feel the staff could or should have warned the man about these people.

MAABOF.

Reading the article it sounds as though they might have a bit of a case. The claim is that the hotel security knew of the activities of the *** Cheylee Kessee and the pimp Kashon Glass and under US law (duty of care) should have warned the prospective victim. Both the *** and the pimp are now in jail for manslaughter from this case incidentally.

How odd, pimp gets past the auto-censor but who re doesn't.

USA, the land of the free, until an aggrieved person hires a lawyer.

Then it costs.

The hotel ain't a nursemaid. While a warning, had anyone noticed, might have been a welcome gesture, it can't be relied on; and the guy involved was an adult, and since he wasn't accompanied by his nurse in a white coat, should be assumed to be capable of making their own decisions.  It's still a US nonsense.

("Land of the free", eh ? I bet that surprised their slaves at the time !)
