Please can anyone tell me the answer to:

41 limes fill a jar and we've filled 20 jars and have 17 limes left over.

Q. Count the limes.

This was on the great big british quiz, but I never saw if anyone got the answer, I did see several incorrect answers tho.

Thanks, but unfortunately it isn't.

It does not actually say that the jars had been filled with limes, only that it takes 41 limes to fill one of them, assuming that the jars were filled with something else, you would have 17 limes.

Alternatively, it could be that you have filled one jar with limes and the other nineteen with other things, if that were to be the case you would have 58 limes. The question is open to quite a variety of possibilities all based on one assumption or another.

As you state that 837 is not the answer, I presume that it must be some sort of catch question and that you know the answer. So don't keep us all in suspense!
