I've just found CERO as a suggestion for 46 - It's a type of Mackerel .

I only thought of DACE

A century without the points suggests to me - A C - with the two outside letters being points of the compass N S E or W but I can find nothing to fit - Perhaps D- for Down and U for Up could be allowed as POINTS ?
