The first part of each clue requires a five letter word as the answer...remove one letter from inside this answer to leave a four letter word, this should be the answer to the second part of the clue.

e.g. Is at the centre of such a scorcher!...

The six 'removed' letters, when seen in sequence, should spell an appropriate well known brand name.
