Clarrie - Grundy married to Eddie;
US female ambassador to Ghana - Shirley Temple Black (most likely);
Ilium - Largest bone of the pelvic girdle; alternative name for Troy;
Mathematician - Galileo;

Thanks. It is from a section from the Bridgnorth African Project current quiz and is just as it was written - "What links Clarrie, etc".
One of the questions in the section that I have answered is "What links Rembrandt, Sir Terry Pratchett and Sarah Waters?" - answer Nightwatch.
Okay.........

Galileo
and Troy were Racehorses who won the Irish Derby.
Shirley Temple was in the film The Seabiscuit (1949) which was about the famous depression-era American Horse.
