why is the sky blue???

i was on my was back over the yorkshire moors today and on my journey i noticed the sky with the fluffy clouds, i turned to my bf and askes 'why is the sky blue?' and he said it was a reflection from the ocean, does anyone know if this is correct.

In fact it's the other way round. The sea looks blue because it's reflecting the sky. Water is see through.
