where in the home would you find magnets?

I'm sure there's one on my son's ear and another on the phone.  Other than that, I can only think of fridge magnets or the magnets on cupboard door catches.

Magnets are found all over the place in the home here are some to start you off looking:

• compass needles (pointing north etc);
• credit cards and similar have magnetically encoded brown stripe on back;
• electricity meter that measures how much juice you use;
• fridge magnets;
• door open detectors in burglar alarms;
• digital clocks and watches that have hands that move;
• electric motors (sometimes only magnetic when switched on);
• earpieces, microphones, and loudspeakers;
• around TV cathode ray tubes (the thing on which you watch the picture);
• some cabinet door catches;
• in computers for writing and reading floppy discs;
• almost anything that you plug into the mains, yet which requires a lower voltage (e.g. halogen lamp, transistor radio) will have a transformer, working on changing magnetic fields;
• indicators on maximum and minimum thermometers;
• valves in washing machines to turn the water on and off under electronic control;
• microwave ovens have big electromagnet called cyclotron to make heating energy;
• dynamo for lights on bike;
• some hand tools have interchangeable bits that are secured by magnets;
• sewing machine has magnet to keep pins safe and out of mechanism;
• sound and video tape recorders store and read magnetic images on the tape;

CORRECTION:

Microwave ovens use a magnetron, not a cyclotron, which is a sort of particle accellerator. Whoops, sorry!
