Volenteer work experiance within the forensic investigations sector

Hello,

I am currently a second yera university student studyin forensic science and investigation studies and am looking for any work experiance within this sector. I would be interested in Lab work or investigation work however, due to the confidentiality and legal matters, there are not many organisations that allow you to carry out any work even volenteer/shadowing work. However, i was just wondering i anybody knew any work experiance that could help me?

And im not too sure, however, i know it it very difficult to find a job within forensic investigation without any hands on experiance and they cannot afford to waste time training people from a basic level. there are so many sectors within forensics from fraud to murders so it largley depends on what i want to specialise in, for example, DNA, blood analysis, hair, fibre, toxiology etc... so i am looking to gain experiance to see which sector suits me best which will also help mechoose what i would like to do for my dissitation in my final year.

I hope your CVs don't have the same number of spelling mistakes as in your question. You can't blame it on wrong keys as your spelling seems to fit in with phonetics.

You could also try the Public Analyst nearest to your uni. There are 32 accredited laboratories around the UK and you can locate your nearest on the following website:

At first glance, you may not think that a Public Analyst placement would be ideal, but I'll point out that that virtually all of them employ chemists, microbiologists and other specialists that often have a forensic background themselves. The laboratories all carry out analysis to forensic science standards.

I've known quite a few students who have gained valuable experience of in these laboratories. Some of these laboratories are run by local authorities and others are operated by private companies so there's quite a lot of scope here to try to get a placement.

I would not normally comment but in this case it matters.
If you make as many spelling mistakes in letters asking for work experience you will get no where. Science demands accuracy and checking everything, by sending a letter with such errors you are demonstrating that do not have those qualities. Also note ' I' as in the first person is always a capital letter, even small things like that will be picked up in a field where 100% attention to detail is the overwhelming consideration .

attention to detail is important in forensic investigation, so they will judge you on your spelling errors.

Just to reinforce the point, any potential employers will get dozens or possibly 100s of applications for every available post. An application with ANY errors will go straight in the bin without even being read.
