Elecectricity in marine fish tank

I have a 205 Ltr Marine salt water fish tank which has a number of electrical devices light heaters pump etc normal

Heres the amazing thing i have a 240v hidden wire finder looks like a pen with an led on top trouble is i lights up 4 feet away from the tank Why?

Because it detects wire with a pd of 240v nearby ?
The units in the tank will no doubt be low voltage but they must be fed from a 240V supply nearby, which is what OldGeezer is pointing out.

If your tank has a uv lamp, it might just be that it is ionising the air. This would be detected by your hidden wire finder. You can easily test this theory by switching off the lamp, of course.
