Sorry about this on a Sunday morning
I am making a 5 pointed star ,normally the internal angles are 72° but I want to lift the star "fingers"up 15° to form a bowl shape and need to know the new angle is it 60 °? Based on the 75/90 *72 ?
Thanks in advance

Do you mean lifting them up out of the page?
Question Author
Yes to keep the centre on the page and lift the fingers
It may depend on the depth of the bowl you want -- but I think you will need the angle to be bigger, not smaller. Otherwise you would form either a pentagon-based pyramid, or a bowl with gaps in.

Thanks for the response Jim360 but I tried with 72° and a compound bevel of 15° and when I came to the last piece -as I am making a candle holder- it was too big so it will be less than 72° but because of resetting the saw every attempt I thought I would ask on here
If you had a paper star and folded the 'fingers' up wouldn't it give the effect you want. There would be no change of angle. Or have I misunderstood what you are trying to do?
Question Author
Yes I am sorry you have misunderstood as i am making it from wood but thanks for your time
Espookid, why not make a paper one and use it as a template, if you make it sufficiently oversize to compensate for the bevel of the joints it should be relatively simple.
Just give it a go and see how it turns out. If it looks ok, measure the angles and let us know what they are.
