I already am sceptical about it. But that doesn't stop me being interested in other people's unusual experiences or finding out why they believe in it.

This article by no means fully debunks the phenomenon but covers an interesting aspect of human perception - we can "sense change" in a scene even though, under controlled experimental conditions, we can't put into words what the nature of the change was.

I think the article, or perhaps the experiment is a bit daft. If you show someone two pictures in the way described, that's got nothing to do with ESP or so called 6th sense. It's an experiment in visual perception.

Please don't compare me to those of a religious persuasion. It's a completely different mode of explanation -- and one which is wrapped up in probability.

I wanted to start a post with the words "Here's a story for you..." but I think it was my subconscious visual field reading her post which was on the edge of my vision at the bottom of the screen while reading the first couple of Ley line posts. LOL

There was one occasion where I was walking towards my workplace's main entrance. It's a multi storey office block and, unlike every occasion prior to this, felt the sudden urge to look upwards at a somewhat uncomfortable angle, towards the third or fourth story. Two young women were looking down directly at me and they both recoiled in mild shock at me suddenly staring back at them. (No 'searching' to and fro, just homing straight in)

I had no reason to know who they were. I worked on the ground floor and we were only able to access the canteen and parts of a floor other than the one they were on.

It still freaks me out but hasn't happened again.

I'll read that article now. ;-)
LG, yes, I do think the sixth sense exists. What I don’t know is how it works – and I’m happy to say I don’t know how it works.

Whilst the word 'paranormal' is indeed currently interpreted as “Beyond the range of normal experience or scientific explanation”, in the expectation that explanation for the perceived ‘paranormal’ will not forever be beyond the reach of science, I prefer to put rather more trust in future human advancement than some appear to. Nothing, in my opinion, is supernatural - or paranormal.
I don't see how stating the blatantly obvious, that folk detect change quicker than identify what it is, has any bearing on whether "sixth sense" exists or not. Sounds like a not uncommon straw clutching exercise by some who want proof to bolster their personal belief.
Yes. I agree with og and lg. The simplest explanation is a good place to start - unless proven otherwise.
//I looked around, and there was a creepy man in the next car making rude gestures at me.//

I thought that might be you! ;o)
Drat! I had a sneaking suspicion I recognised that face!! :o)
I obviously had miscalculated . . . I was sure you had just visited the bakery. :o/
Ha ha! Sperlatt!!

When it comes to Homo sapiens I'm sceptical about any sense, let alone six!

You are no doubt empathic, a lot of us are. But if you look, something horrible is happening to someone somewhere in the world every moment of the day. Coincidence I would say, but don't ever stop feeling the pain and suffering of others. That is real and if it disturbs you it's because empathic people have no option but to feel the pain of others. I know.
Yes there is a sixth sense or call it what you will. I have had a few times in my life when ive had this overwhelming thought/feeling that a friend is in trouble/needs help, and having got in touch with said friend I have found they are having a crisis of some sort. The latest one is my best friend who was having a baby, ever since she told me she was expecting I have believed she was having a girl, and I told her numerous times. My friend and her husband believed the baby to be a boy; she had a little girl last Friday!! How did I know?? I have absolutely no idea, I just knew!
I think the article, or perhaps the experiment is a bit daft. If you show someone two pictures in the way described, that's got nothing to do with ESP or so called 6th sense. It's an experiment in visual perception.
lyall. That's a crazy thing to say. You had 2 options, boy or girl, and you said girl and you happened to be right. It's no different to tossing a coin - 50/50 chance.
Take 10 pregnant women and tell us the sex of their babies, then when the children are born, let's see how many you got right.
If you say you have a sixth sense, then demonstrate it! I challenge you!
