Hi goan - Boo and stevie werent being very kind.
bad news - there is no time travel, so your point cannot be proven. If there were we would have met them by now....
More historically. God's knowsledge of the future - rememvber he is omniscient, has been causing trouble for a few centuries if not millenia.
Thomas Aquinas, likened his view of the future as of a man standing on the hill and looking into the distance.
yeah, cute huh, so Aquinas was using distance as a dimension of time. five hundred years before Minkowski did.....
I don't think the logic holds. After all you might well be travelling forward on only one of many possible futures. You might find that if you came back and went forward again the future you saw was different. I think your hypothetical time machine pre-supposes the nature of time.
Besides this I don't see how having a pre-ordained future implies that God exists.
As Peter alludes to one of the great paradoxs is "If God can see the future then our lives are pre-ordained, we have no free will and are destined to heaven or hell from the moment we are born"
Most Christians will reject this (They have to because it totally undermines the entire concept of an all powerfull God) A typical response is that God can foresee what decisions we will make.
Personally I don't think I've ever heard a particularly good response to the paradox but there you go.
sooo..
if traveling at incredibly high speed makes time slow down.. would travelling at increddibly slow speed make time speed up?
Probably only possible in space as we are already travelling at X thousand miles an hour standing still on earth...
Maybe we only experience time relative to the speed we are traveling at the time hmmm.. who want's to sponsor me to go into deep space to test this out ^_^
What you need to do is remember todays date. Remember it very very very well, because if in the future you get to use a time machine, you have to re-visit yourself at that time and date, and bang on the window or door and run away. If you do have a time machine in the future, you should hear a band on the door or window right now.
If you don't hear a bang, then you don't get to ride a time machine in the future (or you forget the date!!!)
Try it!!!
what a lot of crap i am afraid time travel as described here is not possible and infact best so or god knows (and me too for that matter) how many people will be returning to iprove their past and hence future remember back to the future ?
and margeB as usual is very sientific hope we don't have another theory of relativity dispute hehe (yes that thread was historical hahaha)
