What Are Those Specks?

I was watching Horizon Dark Web earlier on BBC. There was a part when they were talking about diverting Internet signals and they demonstrated it with beams of light. When they did this there was a monumental amount of specks swirling around within the beams.

Anyway, I turned out the light and turned on the torch in my phone and when holding it at certain angles I also can see little specks glistening around my body. What are these, dust or something else?

Of course, if you're alarmed at the levels of dust in your house, you could always head outdoors, for some fresh air and exercise…

…then again, hyperventilating in diesel fumes probably isn't good for the lungs either.

It's amazing that stuff is all around us all the time yet we can't see it except under certain conditions. Makes you wonder what sorts of things we are taking for granted.
You only have to fire off an electronic flash to see how many airborne particulates there are.
