Eggs are incredibly strong at the "sharp end", so a paper flight (sort of dart shaped, but bigger) might persuade it to land on this end.  It would probably survive a two or three foot drop onto carpet, but don't expect me to clean up the mess!

PS no idea what to use the straw for.

Controlling speed is the key doubling the time to stop will halve the force - the object is to design a collapsible support which reduces the time it takes for the egg to come to a complete stop.
Drop it from a height of 0.1 mm onto a pile of straw 10m thick.
Place a thick layer of straw on the paper, place the egg on the straw and roll the paper up half way, then fold the sides in and finish rolling. Tape it up and you have a fairly large light-weight package which has a fairly low terminal velocity, so can be dropped from any height without the egg breaking.
there was an ans on this site some time ago, try here http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Science/Question139491.ht ml
Simple! Drop it and then catch it before it hits the floor! The egg has been dropped the second it leaves your hand, it didn`t say anything about hitting the floor or not! The straw, paper and tape are just diversions!
how bout just making a parachute? just get some string and paper or tissue, then just tape it together with the egg. i haven't really tried it before but it's worth a try!
