There are very many websites that will provide very basic and concise answers to questions such as this. These answers are unquestionably what the OP needs in preference to more detailed online resources.

I appreciate that we are unaware of the age of the OP. However that doesn't preclude the OP from looking on standard reference sources such as Encyclopedia Brittannica, Credo Reference or BBC websites etc to get the answers he or she needs. The point is that no educational establishment would expect someone to answer a question such as this without providing them with with websites where they could get the answer.
