So why is it that your car windscreen / window glass freezes up overnight , but the glass in your house windows does not ( even when the heating is switched off overnight ) ?

It's a mystery, isn't it ;-)
Double glazing.
House is still going to retain heat isn't it.
When I was younger it wasn't uncommon during the winter for the bedroom window to be frosted up first thing in the morning. Didn't have central heating in those days.
OG beat me to it.
Most houses now have a degree of insulation and as such, the temperature of the house won't drop too much overnight. This heat will keep the glass sufficiently warm enough to prevent freezing.
I'm a window cleaner and during the winter, I hate cleaning conservatories on very cold mornings .... you can virtually guarantee that when I put water on the windows, the water freezes. This is because most conservatories are not good at retaining heat overnight, so there will be no heat to keep the temperature of the glass sufficiently high enough to prevent freezing ..... I've seen a few conservatory windows with frost on ....
My car windscreen/windows don't freeze up overnight.
The garage has something to do with that, I suppose.
I remember when we used to get ice on the inside of single glazed bedroom windows
Yea I remember that as well FF .... it doesn't seem that long ago .... but thinking about it, I know it's quite a while ago .... I suppose I just don't like revealing my age lol :P
