Planet Mars Approaches Earth.

As a break from Brexit, ABers might like to have a look at something less contentious. Mars is visible from the end of May until early June, because it is at a relatively close distance. If the weather is good, the planet can be seen without a telescope or binoculars.

For observes in the Northern Hemisphere (but not too far north) Mars is currently due south and furthest above the horizon about an hour after midnight making that the best time to spot it . . . weather permitting.

Above 60 degrees north latitude, Mars is more likely to remain below your local horizon.

If you do spot Mars you might also be able to see Saturn about 15 degrees east of Mars and Antares about 5 degrees south and west of Saturn.
