Why Does Any Atom Form Coordinate Bond?
i mean it bonds even though its octet is complete. What is the need for the donor atom to get involved in the bond....thank you

Take for example CO... oxygen does need to donate a pair of electrons to carbon... oxygen is already stable... but carbon is not... so even though at atomic level there might be stability for one atom but at macro level, or system level there is still instability... so if oxygen donates one pAIR of elec to carbon then the overall stability of the system raises...
