Shake it up

If you have a bowl of items of different sizes and you shake the bowl, the largest items rise to the top. Why is this?

Because the gaps that you make when agitating the contents are more easily filled by the smaller items, thus increasing the proportion of these smaller items in the lower layers.

P.S. if you shake hard enough some raisins also end up on floor.

PPS The experiment doesn't work so well with milk added.

ok - I missed that picture, probably because I don't go near CB any more. I did Landan in my 20s, I was making my way up North from Devon to Yorkshire - are you doing it in reverse? Don't let it get you stressed, it's a great place to be with the right attitude. Just so long as you don't want to buy a house or anything. Hmmm, so where can we have our consultations??
