I recently saw a video clip of an Indian chef, who said that any Indian cook will be able to get 8 different flavours from any individual spice.
So, I was idly wondering, supposing he was making a curry with 6 different spices, would that mean it would be possible to get 373,248 different flavour combinations?
8x8x8x8x8x8 = 373,248?

In theory, yes, but that assumes that the 8 flavours in any one spice are not reduplicated in any of the other 5.
