Radio 4 do a series called The Curious Cases of Rutherford and Fry ... and that is a question they looked into back in June. The conclusion was that at around 160 decibels it could rupture your eardrums (that's a bit louder than standing next to a jet engine) and at around 200 decibels it could collapse your lungs. However to actually get to those levels of sound the kind of kit you would need is a bit too large to be practical.

Just be warned, the podcast starts with some light hearted stuff before getting to the actual question and ends with more light hearted stuff unrelated to the question, but it's worth a listen.
