Also where’s the first place to see 2018 and the last?
-- answer removed --
Tonga, Samoa and Kiribati will be the first to see 2018, with the UK coming in towards the end of the pack. The last to celebrate (even if no-one lives there) will be uninhabited US territories like Baker Island and Howland Island.
The South Pacific islands are the first I believe
first place, Kiritimati (Christmas Island) part of the Kiribati chain.
Those in the plane can say "Happy New Year" only once in each time zone (at the stroke of midnight). They can say it 39 times as this is the number of time zones https://time.is/time_zones
Being in a jet might lengthen the day for you, but the main factor is how fast you can say the phrase. Probably thousands. But I'd get bored.
Assuming you drank a cup of kindness yet at each opportunity "Happy New Year" would likely become incomprehensible . . . at the end of the day.
