I want to know on a scale how scared you would be if Earth was going to be destroyed by a meteor. Please explain

Indeed, but even if it travelled at the speed of light (approximatey 186,000 miles PER SECOND) it would take 8 minutes to cover the distance from the sun to the earth. Hence coming from somewhere more distant than the sun – say from the outer reaches of our solar system, it would take much longer. Such a body would not hit the earth suddenly and unexpectedly. It would be spotted and tracked and its estimated time of arrival would be known.
