Doesn’t that Swedish person ever go to school or does she think she knows it all already?

She’s off to Davos now for a world summit.

// Is that thick being clever, or clever being thick, in the usual devils advocate flip flop reset opportunity? //

Does it matter? If you have an answer to it, then write it. The answer will speak for itself.
//I am willing to listen to someone who has the experience and knowledge to know of what they speak.

A sixteen year old does not qualify. //

I sure I've seen David Attenborough saying the same kind of stuff Andy. He's older than 16 and quite experienced. Are you willing to listen to him?
Ellipses, \\Did more drunks start fires this year than in previous years, vulcan42?//
I don't know, I doubt those statistics even exist, much like the statistics that relate to your observation, science is humble. It was for that reason I wrote "might" have started fires.... I'm not sure how to gather statistics on anything that might have happened.
//I don't know much about it. I've heard a lot about global warming, but not the scam.//

Perhaps that is because you are only hearing a lot about glow bull warming from the very sources with the most to gain from the scam. I am sure though that it doesn't matter.
Some people have the head in the sand don't they.
Whilst some are making a good living from the issue, the weight of evidence shows it clearly exists and is a major problem not a scam. Is David Attenborough part of the scam then?
F.F. //Is David Attenborough part of the scam then?//

I don't know if he part of the 'scam', but there is a strong element of hypocrisy about the man. There can be fewer human beings with a larger carbon footprint. During his life, he has flown ceaselessly to the most remote parts of the planet entering caves & forests, taking with him a crew with their equipment, including diesel-driven generators etc.
Yes, we have seen some interesting & beautiful films, but we should remember that they came at a cost to the environment, a fact of which he seems to be in self-satisfied denial, - not unlike Prince Charles & several other wealthy eco-warriors.
Greta, or more accurately, the people encouraging her in her crusade, could be taken more seriously if, rather than demonise the west continually, they acknowledged the real problem - but they don’t - because it isn’t ‘woke’ to criticise the fundamental issue of the ever-increasing world population. When she starts meeting with, and shouting at, leaders in Africa and Asia, then I’ll listen. I doubt they would indulge her as the west does - which is perhaps why she doesn't venture into their territory.
Both Greta Thumburg and Chris Packham are on the autistic spectrum. So perhaps having children is not high on their personal agenda anyway. (And before anyone has a go my daughter has Aspergers so I’m not talking blind here).

Angry young girl is a great tool and she has been used to great effect. However if they over use her, which I think they are getting to, the climate change activists will shoot themselves in the foot because people will switch off and not take her seriously.

Regressing to a bygone age of hand tools etc etc is not an option. Nothing does backwards. Technology will be the better option for control and where she screams and shouts about the dangers she has no alternatives. Just demands that something is done.

Well Ms Thungurg. Go back to school, get a degree in something useful and develop the technology needed.

Don't forget China Naomi. I believe that is a wonderful place to visit right now. Perhaps we could crowd fund a trip for them all to Wuhan.
Climate change is natural. The earth is still emerging from the last Ice Age and is consequently warming up. Our Sun has the biggest impact on the climate, along with volcanoes. How do you stop a volcano?
In lots of places, there is a geological occurrence called "bounce-back". This can be seen right now on Romney Marsh, which used to be used for sheep grazing but is gradually sinking into the sea at the rate of 1" per year. This is due to the mountains in the north of the UK "bouncing back" up after the glaciers that once covered them, melted. As they "bounce-back" up, they drag the furthest parts down, one of which is Romney Marsh. It's natural folks. We're still warming up from the last Ice Age. Get over it. Don't be conned.
// //I am willing to listen to someone who has the experience and knowledge to know of what they speak.//

yeah - foo ! whoever said that - one of the usual suspects, I suspect

imagine - daddy daddy I am only theven but the houth is on fire!

oh but daddy !

Andy: why am I reminded of australian bush fires - they are far far away, hardly next door and certainly not here !

and the punch line of this little sketch is - they all end up well done!
// Don't forget China Naomi. Perhaps we could crowd fund a trip for them all to Wuhan.//
after all in a city of 11 m, there are they say plenty of hotel spaces !

//Climate change is natural.//

You will never manage to get people to part with funds to study that Clarion........there is no future in it.
> I am willing to listen to someone who has the experience and knowledge to know of what they speak.

Who do you listen to on this topic?

> I don't know, I doubt those statistics even exist, much like the statistics that relate to your observation, science is humble.

If you took the time to read the thread, you will have seen where that quote came from. As it is, you came in after a couple of hundred posts and posted not even an observation but some random thought that came into your head as if it was just as valid as the science you're attempting to rubbish with it.
// Perhaps that is because you are only hearing a lot about glow bull warming from the very sources with the most to gain from the scam. I am sure though that it doesn't matter. //

You may well be right Togo. So here's your opportunity to enlighten me. If you're not willing or able to explain the scam yourself, you could at least point me in the direction of some of these alternative sources of information.
To me, it seems like a lot of excuse making for climate change deniers. The cause is met with a closed mind whoever backs it, but as it's a teenaged girl, there's an easy target for not believing her.

It doesn't matter who was campaigning about climate change, those folk will always find a reason to disbelieve them.
// To me, it seems like a lot of excuse making for climate change deniers. //

Actually it doesn't matter. What climate change deniers believe or don't believe is irrelevant, as are people who think the moon landings were faked and the royal family are lizards.

All that matters is what governments do, and as that seems to be 'not much', I believe that what will happen, will happen anyway.

I also don't believe anything can be done. There is no way we can go back to some sort of pre-industrial existence even if we wanted to, and it's change on that sort of scale that we'd need to see.

The problem with governments tackling the issue is that it has implications which will weaken the economy and therefore the incumbent party's electability. If Greta grasped this fact, she might not appear so naive.
as she's pointed out before, she's on a gap year.
