//I’ve never really understood why people stick their heads in the sand about this issue. Is it guilt? Stupidity?//
I think it’s neither of those. I cannot speak for everybody, only for myself and a few acquaintances whose views I have canvassed. I have no doubt that global temperatures are increasing slightly. I’ve less confidence that it is entirely due to human activity. However, from my point of view it doesn’t matter because whatever is done will make no difference. In this country we are poncing about with light bulbs, windmills, solar farms and encouraging people to adopt a plant based diet to “save the planet”. At the same time, large shops are seen with their doors wide open in January and February, heating the street with their 25Kw curtain heaters. Meanwhile, the USA and China, responsible for 45% of the world’s greenhouse gases (compared to the UK's 1.1%), have absolutely no intention of jeopardising their economy and will continue to produce emissions at the same or increased levels.
The idiots that planted a boat in the middle of Oxford Circus for a week and followed this up by gluing themselves to underground trains are simply becoming extremely boring. They should take their protests to Tiananmen Square and Pennsylvania Avenue and see how they get on there. Hopefully Ms Thunberg will join them.

Grommit; //// Anyone tell me what qualifications she has regarding climate change. //
//The same as President Trump, Boris Johnson, et al.//
Specifically re. "climate change", who has? But at least they both have education & life experience, viz;
'Trump was born and raised in Queens, a borough of New York City, and received a bachelor's degree in economics from the Wharton School. He took charge of his family's real-estate business in 1971, renamed it The Trump Organization, and expanded its operations from Queens and Brooklyn into Manhattan.'
'Johnson was born in New York City to upper-middle class British parents, and was educated at Eton College, then at Balliol College, Oxford, where he read Classics and was elected President of the Oxford Union in 1986.' [Then Journalist, Mayor of London, British Prime Minister.]
