Can anyone explain the difference between an autopsy and a post mortem? I can't seem to get a straight answer on Google

I'm not sure there is a difference? As far as I know, they are used interchangeably. Is there a particular reason
you're asking?
Colloquially... I would say a post mortem is to find the cause of death. While autopsy, might be more for science research. But that isn't an official view.
They are the same thing
As far as I’m aware there is no difference.
they are the same.....according to the NHS.
autopsy tends to be the term used more in the USA
