was watching this on the news this morning, astonising pictures.
Truly remarkable, for sure. I don't know how they pulled this off, but it's an absolute triumph.

The images of the collision from Earth-bound telescopes are also quite spectacular:

Very nice. Well one hopes it proves a triumph. Apparently they can't tell for weeks.
In this case, the triumph I was thinking of was the quality of pictures, the number of them, and the fact that they managed to hit. It's probably misleading to say that this is like standing in London and trying to hit the middle of somebody's little finger in Edinburgh, while they are running around in circles at some stupid speed, but it's still remarkable the ability to execute this mission perfectly.
The rest of the world should be grateful that such an organisation as NASA exists. The experts there are doing their best to protect us all from a disaster that might come from outer space. No other nation (as far as I know) has such resources. I say 'thank you, NASA, for spending your time, expertise, and efforts to protect the rest of us.'
An incredible achievement, well done to all concerned :-)
