....because we are already travelling through spacetime at the speed of light, there is only one speed in spacetime.

// As you speed up mass increases ... //This isn't true, although is a common misconception. To be more precise, your kinetic energy increases. Mass stays the same throughout. No doubt E= mc^2 tricks people into thinking that if mass goes up then energy does, but that equation only holds when you are at rest; otherwise, the equation readsE^2 - p^2c^2 = m^2...

For now ...

Question Author

11:46, for ever, watch the video then come back and tell me how it will ever be possible.

Question Author

From Naomi's link:

"This isn’t just a matter of clever engineering or figuring out some trick – this is built into the fabric of the universe. "

- not in Andy's universe!

The Victorians would not have been able to tell you how landing on the moon is possible, but that doesn't mean it won't happen.

The future can and may be anything at all.

What it is not, is limited to what does or does not happen now.

As you speed up mass increases..at the speed of light youd have ininite mass...ergo youd need infinite energy

AH: "The Victorians would not have been able to tell you how landing on the moon is possible, but that doesn't mean it won't happen." - Not remotely comparable that is calculable 100s of years before any sort of flight, just needed engineering to catch up. FTL travel is prohibited.

"The future can and may be anything at all." - no it can't read Hawking's book.

"What it is not, is limited to what does or does not happen now." - well that is true at least but there are limits.

Question Author

Don't come on here with your puny human physics baz, we are in Hughes land where anything is possible!

TTT - Please don't patronise me because I have less than no interest in your current obsession.

If you can find someone else to engage in pointless arguments with, good luck, it's not going to be me.

Good afternoon.

Question Author

12:06, great so why did you even join? In just to spout ignorant rubbish? To disrupt the thread because you hate it that there are subjects you are not interested in?

Question Author

I'm not interested in soaps which is why you rarely find me on threads about Coronation Farm etc.

Perhaps science and technology might enable 'faster than light' travel. UFO's have appeared to display inertia-less behaviour, and are, I suspect, driving a lot of activity in military circles worldwide.

I like canal narrow boats because they force you to go very slowly.

The analogy with the moon is completely bogus.

I'm no scientist but even I can see that it is not and nor will it ever ever be possible.

Question Author

succinctly put ich.

Ich; What's the analogy with the moon? Is it on another thread?

11.57 atheist

Ich - Why can't you see it as possible.

The future is unknown to any of us, but history is not.

In Shakespeare's time, talking about television or phones would have got you burned as a witch.

I remember life before colour TV, diesel cars, supermarkets, the Internet, and so on.

Science evolves continuously, and although I cannot say that space travel will happen, no-one cannot say that it will not.

That is the only point I am making.

Thanks, Zacs.

14:30, for someone who could not be less interested and with even less idea you do seem to be keen on adding your two penneth.
