Rough ideas are Japan next few months, USA September/October. SO I guess us in the UK will be lucky to see it this year, most likely early 2007.

Early 2007?? That's a joke right? Launching over a year after the XBOX 360 (and Nintendo Revolution for that matter) would be suicide.
And why should the UK get it later than anyone else? Microsoft managed an almost simultaneous global rollout of the 360, so why can't Sony?

My magic 8 ball says "All signs point towards Q2-3 2006."

First, Microsoft have shipped a box with faults on it so it was not fully tested (search the web for this)

Second, Microsoft made a few available in each country to say they have launched, but now cannot deliver any, getting bad publicity.

Third, from what I have seen on the web, none of the XBox 360 games are much to write home about.

I think you will find Sony will do it properly and deliver a quality, well tested box with some top notch games, and will "suceed" in the long run.

spaced: they mate state that, but whether or not it actually happens is another matter entirely.

if the xbox360 is a huge success, they would rush out the PS3 as fast as they can. if not, they have more time on their hands. and i think they now have more time on their hands ;)

I wouldn't say Sony have any more time on their hands at all. Every person who buys an Xbox 360 is a person who may not buy a PS3...unless they can afford to buy both, of course :)

my point was that people haven't really been flying out to buy the 360 like M$ may have expected. I know more people who this year bought a PS2 for christmas (to take advantage of all the games that cant play, because either they just want a cheap console that plays good games, or have an xbox), than have bought the 360.

And from all the hype (and yes, it will be hype) set around the PS3's abilities, like the cell processor, I think others are holding back just to see how good it really is.

Add to that the problems M$ have had with the 360; scratched CDs, etc. and that *huge* power block that it needs. Well, I still think that Sony don't have much to fear (not that I like Sony right now or anything; what they're doing with DRM is damned evil. But M$ are just as bad).

Also, if the revolution is anything like what it may be like (I mean the cool controllers, that can tell their position and orientation), that could end up becoming very very popular too. Just as long as the graphics are up to scratch. If they aren't, they'll still have the fans. But if the graphics aren't good, many people who don't know much about consoles will buy a 360 or PS3 because it just looks superiour.
