About 5 years ago i was working at a sawmill when a friend and i saw a HUGE spider bigger than the size of my hand. It blended right in with the thick bark on the side kants we were cutting and we almost didn't notice it untill it started running. We chased it the best we could, but when we were close enough to accually catching it niether of us would grab it cuz of its size. We just thought it was a really big wolf spider and since then i just always told the story as that. Recently i had been looking up spiders to identify poisonous ones that might be lurking in my basement of the house i just bought. For some reason i can't find any spiders so far that look like the one we saw that day. It's way bigger than any of the wolf spiders i've been finding on the net and really doesn't reasemble them much either. The best i can describe it is a tranchula. But we were working outside of Canton, Missouri (North East Missouri) and i wouldn't think any tranchulas could have made it that far north on a log truck. Can anyone point me to a web site that would have a Huge spider that looks like a tranchula? Any help would be great, thanks.
