My 12 year old son is stuck on his science homework and have to admit science is NOT my strongest point!! The question is What are the products of:


(a) metals reacting with acids?


(b) metal carbonates reacting with acids?



Can anyone help please??

In both cases the result is a salt + a gas.
You son should have some idea which gas is released in each case.


Metal + acid = salt + hydrogen I think
Metal carbonate + acid = Salt + CO2 + H20
(A salt is a metal ionically bonded to a non metal)
Has he looked in his notes? Does he have a textbook?
