Filter it!! what kind of scale are you talking about?

After you have filtered it you will need to drop in a sterilising tablet if you intend drinking it. I would also recommend boiling it well. It still won't taste very good, but it should be safe.

How about boiling it and re-condensing the steam?

Pour it down the loo and turn on the tap until it comes back out! - couldnt do better than the and above! - could try ion exchange resins - v expensive unless you need really pure water.
