Hi this is a bit random but i was wondering, if u had a box made of mirrors, (on the inside) and you could somehow get light into the box without disturbing the reflecting abilities of the box, would the inside of the box remain lit? Or would the mirrors have to be 100% efficient? and is that possible? or where would the light go?

1. The mirrors would need something to reflect off and this couldnt happen if they were all in darkness

2. You cant get light in a box without opening it

The light would eventually (very quickly) be converted into other energies, i.e. heat, and dissipate this way.

if the mirrors were 100% efficient ( I'm afraid we're out of those ) ...
and if the gaz inside the box was perfectly transparent ...
and if ... and if...

hey thanks tweed, any other sensible answers are also welcome, as for spk and space, it seems you hide your non intelligence behind sarky comments, you needn't have bothered answering
well boink if you ask a stupid question.. you tend to get a stupid answer

Thanks for your insult, boink.
I your question is much more stupid than my answer, but I was civilized enough not to insult you for it, and I replied with humour instead.

You're not in a position to call anyone "non-intelligent".
Grow up.

Whoa Whoa!! People ask a question co hey don't know. If a 4 year old kid asked why things stick to the floor, would you berate them with clever comments about gravity and insult them, or answer civilly explaining that little things stick to heavier things.

Idiot.

If someone invented a 100% perfect reflector (imposible, I imagine), then it should be possible to have a small opening through which to shine some light at an angle so that it doesnt reflect straight out, and then quickly close the opening ...

The light would then bounce around forever, but the box would not really remain 'lit'. If we say 'lit', then we are imagining being able to 'see' the glow emanating from the box. Any opening through which to see, would let the light out pretty quickly.

If the opening in the box was opened sometime later then I suppose a brief flash could be detected as the photons emerged...
