My daughter has some homework, and has questions.
1. How hot is a hot bath, and, 2. How cold is the north pole? Many thanks.

There are two possible reasons why these questions have been asked:

1 To realise that the terms 'hot' and 'cold' have no absolute meanings and are simply relative to some other reference temperature (often human body temperature of 37C).

2 To get the pupil to do some research (or actually measure a temperature)

To give you an idea of what these temperatures are likely to be:

Hot bath water is just above body temperature 40C - 42C

The North Pole is around 0C in summer and -35C in winter
