at this stage, it is a wave coming out of something and going into another
heat radiating out of a radiaator/heater and heating the room.
electromagnetic radiation coming into the room from a dario station and disappearing down the aerial
fluorescent tube or any light radiating light
extra marks - any body radiating gravity waves - see the look on the teachers face when you say that

Also, most domestic smoke alarms all contain a tiny amount of radioactive material...there is a sensor that picks up a flow of decaying Americium-241 ions. Heat and smoke entering this chamber effect the rate at which the ions can flow across the gap to the detector....this in turn triggers the alarm.
