What is the difference between red diesel and diesel?

red diesel is dyed red that's the only difference. This is done because red diesel has litttle or no tax on it so it can be used for agriculture. The tanks of diesel vehicles can be "dipped" to detect if they have ever had red diesel in them and it's a serious offence to have red diesel in a road vehicle.
