What sort of noise?

Could be contraction of the wood following a change from daytime temperature.

Possibly wood-boring beetles?

Question Author
its a small lil "TICK" and its made by furniture and the refridgerator during the night, i have heard that it might be due to the moving of the earth around its axis but i want a technical answer...........thx
If it were the Earth's rotation, it would be happening all the time because the Earth is rotating all the time. Ma tv often makes a cracking noise at night a while after it's switched off. Lots of things expand and contract as the temperature changes and furniture and fridges are no different.
Is the item of furniture a clock?

That would explain the tick noise....
