Now they have a grander title - Anatomical Pathology Technicians.
Your best bet would be to contact the Mortuary Manager at the nearest large hospital in your area. They will point you in the right direction. You can expect to undergo training both in the mortuary and college, learning many skills.
If possible you should look for a job in a teaching hospital as they tend to have more vacancies and have better facilities and a larger team of pathologists available on site. Nevertheless, much valuable work is done by technicians in local hospitals.
If your really lucky, you might have a mysterious unexplained death on your doorstep one day and get the chance to work with a visiting Home Office Pathologist!
