Like televisions, alarm systems, computers, and all other electrical devices, mobile phones emit electromagnetic radiation.
Any powered speaker may make a sort of beeping sound before the mobile rings. It happens because the power supply to your speakers acts as an aerial, the signal (or more accurately parts of the signal)is picked up then causes the noise you hear.
Cell phones emit radiation- not gamma rays or x-rays but only non-ionizing micro waves which have lesser frequencies than even infrared rays.
