You're very kind wildwood. I also paid little attention to the likes of adverbs and part participles at the secondary modern school I attended although I did obtain a Grade 1 in CSE English Language..
My interest in English grammar was only awakened following my admittance to the local grammar school as "O" level English Language was a pre-requisite for studying the sciences at "A" level - CSE grade 1 was not good enough in their view. I also took chemistry, physics and biology at "O" level to while away the time which puts me in a fairly unique position - how many people can say they've got CSE Grade 1 in chemistry and "O" level chemistry etc?
All the same, much of the interest in grammar that's been rekindled in me is the result of years of avid reading of all kind of literature, newspapers and journals along with years of report writing and book authorship etc.
Due to all this, I'd never take it upon myself to criticise the standard of English on AB. Besides, I've seen far worse than yours!
