is it harmful to reuse polyethene bags in storing food?if so, what are the bad effects?

it is very much harmful to use polythene bags to store food. although no established records are there, scientist around the world believe that the toxic nature of polyvinyl chloride can be a potential hazard if used for a longer duration. certain toxic gas also produced by these bags (not sure). now a days different types of polybags are there for food & vegetable carry purpose. but for storage it is always a case of uncertainty.
