Hi there,
Recently, the fishes in my tank started dying out.I have no idea why it's happening may be, there time was up but i noticed that the fish started floating after it's death and i thought this might be because they have got some gas in their stomach and so was suspecting the fish feed.
Here, i am almost guessing that the fish should sink as it must be denser than water but anybody who want to surprise me with otherwise, is most welcome.

Are you asking why fishes float when they are dead?

I assume it's the gases being produced as they decay.
Most bony fishes that are not bottom dwellers adjust their buoyancy with their swim bladder so that they float in mid water. When they die the little extra buoancy caused by gas produced in their digestive system makes them float. After a while the gases mentioned by squarebear make them float even more. If you want to know why they are dying then try a new question on that subject.
Yes, dead fish sink, but they soon (sometimes a matter of hour) start floating for reasons as above.

thank you for the answers.

I had noticed before that when a fish dies it usually sinks but this time it was the contrary. So, i thought may be it's because of the fish feed but looking at your answers floating seems quite normal.so, i guess my fishes are fine(unless another one dies)
