Bending light

Will we ever be able to make ourselves truly invisible? I've seen some future clothing that apparently bends light but this was a little unconvincing. Im talking about real invisiblity like we see in the movies ie..the film Predator.

Those scientists/philosophers etc from ancient Greece, Rome or medieval Europe could never have conceived of relativity and nuclear physics. Their minds and thinking had not progressed to that level. Similarly, we today could never imagine concepts that will be discovered in centuries to come.
I agree with Andyvon. The best we can do at the moment is some stupidly impractical 'fabric' that picks up the light hitting the front of you and projects it around the back of you so, so it looks like you're not there.
The real method of achieving invisibility - if there is one - will come from developing an idea we haven't even conceived of yet.

It might be closer than you think. and as long as you only want to make something a few microns in size invisible then it can be done now.

I have a ‘cloaking device’ – which renders me invisible to staff working behind the bar at my local.
I do not know how it works, or even how to switch it off – although making some sort of sound can have the effect of switching it off.
While standing waiting to be served, I have often pondered whether I could saunter into the bank next door and help myself to loads of cash, with no one noticing.

The main trouble with being truly invisible (for a person) is that you would have to be blind! If your eyes were still able to focus light onto your retina, that would mean that your eyes (at least) would be visible (as a strange sort of disturbance to the overall view) to an observer. If light passed straight through your eyes, then you would obviously be blind.
