Now that Eton John has publicly stated that he supplied the sperm to the surrogate mother in order to have a boy does that mean there is a 50% chance the child will turn out to be a homosexual?

I don't have an issue with a gay guy having a child.

BUT ...

I have a serious issue with Elton buying the apartment next door, just for the child.

The only argument to support gay couples having children is that the child receives the same amount of love. In this case, the child will be brought up "next door" by nannies.

That is gross.

It labels the poor child as a "trophy baby".

But hey ... the kid will be loaded, so who are we to criticize?

(weird, confused and disturbed ... but loaded)
Environment, is it rov ?

How do you account for a single gay child in a family of numerous children ?

There is still a vast amount of work to be undertaken in gene research......it is stupidly simplistic to suggest that all aspects of current research indicate that there is no such thing.
JTH........the present research and that is all that we can go on at the present has not highlighted a "gay gene".....I am not saying that there isn´t one, just that none has been found.

How do you account for a family of say six, one becomes a serial killer....the environment has been the same (apparently) but no criminal gene has been highlighted.

Science is not perfect, but that is all we have and up to today. the feeling is that "gayness" is environmental rather than genetic......this could change tomorrow.
I think "your" feeling is that sqad!

I recall sending you a link with lots of documented instances of Gay animals the last time you suggested it way environmental.

I take it that didn't change your mind?
My answers were for rov, sqad.

Thought you may find this interesting........

""gayness" is environmental rather than genetic"

So how much money went into the "scientific research" to tell us that someone growing up in Brighton is more likely to be gay than someone growing up in Glasgow?

They could have just asked any of us !
jake ...do you?

Gay animals.....yes....I do remember....I think....you mean animals whose actions may be considered..."gay"

I will stick to human behaviour.
@Sqad - lots of evidence to show that genetics is a significant feature of the biological features that are the biggest influencers of human sexual orientation.DNA studies have shown that the gene is almost certainly on the X-chromosome. Identical twins ( monozygotic) have shown behavioural correlations that again point to a genetic component to sexuality.

The only people who dismiss biology as a determinant of sexuality and claim it is entirely environmental are, by and large, religious fruitloops that dismiss any science that contradicts their blinkered world view.
Lazzygun.....your initial statement is, that is if I take you correctly for the heterosexual being, there is, as far as I know a genetic picture or abnormality of Barr body configuration to indicate the development of a homosexual individual.
JTH you point is well taken.......but:

Scientists say that the gene itself is not the only reason for the violent behaviour as there are many different environmental and social issues which can also lead to violence.
Lazygun...should have read" NO genetic ect"
As I hoped my last had made clear no-one must assume that the lack of knowledge of a homisexual gene represents a frustrated failure.
It doesn't. The fact is that no-one has put in the vast amount of work involved in looking for one - because there is no point. The time, energy and money involved is applied to more important things.

Therefore to assume that this gap automatically points to the environment makes no sense. Where is the evidence for that?
Absence of evidence does not mean evidence of absence.....
Woman ...

Lives in Brighton.
Drinks in gay bars, because we all do.
Has openly gay friends.
Even her "straight" friends have mostly "dabbled" a bit.
All her girl friends are very tactile.
Is encouraged to "try it once", because we all do.
If she tries it, her pals will go "Yaay, good for you girl".

Man ...

Lives in Tottenham.
Never been near a gay bar. There probably aren't any.
Never had a gay friend.
Doesn't even know any gay people.
None of his mates is tactile, because that would be "queer".
If he tries it, his pals will call him a poof and duff him up.

Are these 2 people equally likely to find that they enjoy being gay?

... because it's a genetic thing?

Or do we think it might be environmental? Is Brighton Girl a teeny bit more likely to be gay than Tottenham Bloke ??

Where would you put your money?
On the gay one.............!?!
That's like saying I would put my money on "the winning horse", isn't it ?
They stand equal chance of being gay........I presume you actually meant, which one out of the two is the more likely to be open and honest about it within their peer-group ?
Ditto...

I am open minded....but I'd laugh in your face if anyone suggested I 'try it once' No I will not...I'm straight. And I'm not curious.

You're either attracted to the same sex, opposite sex, or in some cases, both. You cannot force that on anyone.
he'll have his own organ
No, JTH ...

Because that presupposes that it's a simple black/white thing.

I'm gay ... I'm straight.

It seems more likely that we are all a bit in between. Girls fancy other girls, and guys fancy Johnny Depp.

So we could happily plump either way.

But which comes out on top?

When do guys start to think ... I'm leaning towards girls, actually.

Probably when his subconscious tells him that asking his mate down at The Bricklayers Arms if he fancies playing around a bit will lessen his prospects of going with his mate to watch Spurs on Saturday.
