thanks guys, but i was looking for a more scientific answer.
So many animals and plants depend on the diurnal cycle to synchronise their internal clocks that ecosystems would become very chaotic and probably become radically re-structured. There is no way of knowing what the outcome would be as at present the dynamics of eco-systems are not well enough understood.
You need to expalin your imagined scenario a bit more. Is the earth still rotating in 24 hours? What is supplying light to the side of the earth away from the sun? Is this source also supplying heat?
The animals at the Poles seem to manage with months of continual darkness. If this happens gradually (like over thousands of years), I am sure life would adapt.

If this happens at once with some ginormous mirrors, the weather would stop and we have continuous summer. Without weather no rain so no grass or cereal food - no food for anyone. Amen.
Countries north of the Arctic circle experience that for six months every year and plants and animals have adapted to it. Bear in mind that the sun does vary in its intensity throughout each 24 hour period so there is a cycle of weather. The same would apply if it occurred at lower latitudes and the cycle would be far greater because of the intensity of the sun.
The situation you describe is already used in some green houses and illegally grown canabis.
As long as water and nutriments were available many plants would adapt . Their life cycle would change as would that of animals . In most cases their life cycle would be faster and shorter.
