None of my family enjoy it. I am happier at Christmas these days though since I decided to virtually treat it like any other bank holiday and just not bother. A nice meal a few pressies just between close family, no decorations and no Christmas cards.

I really did think that I'd deleted the Youtube video. (I typed some text to explain that it represented my view of Christmas but then thought better of it. I deleted the text but forgot to delete the link in the Youtube field). So, while I love Arksided's contribution, I wasn't actually trying to 'lower the tone' on this thread!

I can 'take it or leave it' at Christmas time. A few year's ago I'd got everything ready for a 'proper' Christmas lunch (roast turkey, sprouts, stuffing, etc, etc) but when I got up on Christmas morning I just couldn't be bothered. I had a Findus lasagne for my lunch!

As long as you're happy doing what you want to do, I can't see that anyone else should object.

miss meg, I didn't wish to offend the subtlety of Christmas . It is far too early to be thinking of Christmas in my eyes.

Christmas has lost it's magic and the worst thing is the kids today will only know it as the retail therapy free grab-a-bargain shopping frenzy it's now become and will never know the beauty and magic of christmas's passed.
