Not going to shoota's, looking for an invite to em10's
Craft1948, what is it about M and S trifles? I never make it or order it out, but the M and S version I could eat on my own! Hope your trifle will be the big size, not the piddling individual size.

ok all welcome, we will have a starter, not sure what yet but it won't have anything to do with Christmas.
let me have a think.
Sod that I'm going to CD and Snags.
No fish em, maybe a pate, hot toast and cumberland sauce, with a cherry pie for afters?
Im going to join snags
Ah Sibs! .........(Mopes off feeling rejected, wiping a tear from the corner of his eye, wailing violins playing a mournful dirge, seeking the deadly hemlock....)
Baked camembert with crusty bread.

Steak, well done, with a blue cheese sauce (or maybe peppercorn to avoid cheese overload!), lots of mushrooms, grilled tomatoes and french fries.

Cheese and crackers.

Glass of warm port and lemonade or fruity (not dry) mulled wine.
sibton, no it will be something out of left field. i can't bear Christmas, at least not these days, when it all starts in September.
So mine:

Glasses of Heisdick or Tokaji.

Roasted scallops, black pudding on a bed of samphire, a Semillion jus.
Wine, Vicars Choice (NZ Sauv Blanc)

Truffle soup - served w. a glass of Fino Sherry of Ch Rieussec

Champagne and Grape Sorbet

Roast Goose with roast spuds, roast parnsips and crarrots, green beans, sprouts, Chateau St Pierre 1995

Selection of Cheeses (Cheddar, Stilton, Irish Cashel Blue, Goats Cendré, Pujol Navet, Vacherin (soak up the wine)

Christmas Pud, Choc or a very boozy Trifle. Ch. Rieussec (or a Tokaji)
shoota, New year minus any fish?
OK - Happy now :-)
Barscht with dk rye bread
Lemon sole rolled and stuffed with lobster in a light wine and butter sauce
Roast venison with a port and rowan jelly roast vegetables and broccolli
Key lime pie
a 3 hour cheeseboard
a bottle of amarone and about half a bottle of vintage port..

A jug of very good coffee and a bottle of a single malt

wet walnuts
DTcrosswordfan, I'm coming to yours, can I bring about fourteen guests?
A nice mature Limburger cheese to help keep visits short Nose pegs for special friends though. We do the trad stuff before and after Xmas for family but the Day is ours
Champagne
Lobster Thermidor
Christmas pud
Loads of cheeses
Vintage port
I'd have some of my favourites - a proper prawn cocktail (must be in a glass with a wedge of lemon and some of that brown stuff sprinkled on the top), poached smoked haddock, scrambled eggs and hollandaise sauce on a doorstep of hot buttered toast, and a blackcurrant cheesecake with actual blackcurrants on it (not one of those new-fangled swirly cheesecakes) or sticky toffee pudding with loads of cream.
ooh champagne and grape sorbet, tempting

Tiggerblue10 ..... I am two thirds of the way there with you. Garlic mushrooms and the lamb shanks for definite - but probably a homemade apple, sultana and caramel pud for afters - with cream x
