The mini screwdrivers have to be the best for year round use but other fav's were:
-mini playing cards which were good for play in-flight (on a plane) on the little fold down tray/table.
-little puzzles of bend metal or moulded plastic these kept u busy when the table talk was boring.
-spinning top with hipnotic pattern oooooooo!
-your brothers cracker containing a big pink ring/hairclip or comb oooh baby you know u want it...suits you sir!

...my 12 year old daughter made some wonderful handmade crackers last year and she filled them with pick n mix, jokes she got off the internet, and a party popper...it was a bit like "the good life" because they didn't have the snap so we all had to shout "bang" (or "crack" if you are posh like Margot.)...
