Ime not sure if they are the same but i do know they taste delicious!!! Roast them in the oven on low for about an hour, then add salt, yummy. Really creamy nutty taste!!! ENJOY!!!
Conkers roasting on an open fire eh?! Doesnt have the same dulcet tone does it. "Conkers" are the seeds, in the form of nuts, of the Horse Chestnut. These are inedible. You need chestnuts from a (sweet) chestnut tree (no horses involved).

Frankly though, I find that the smell of chestnuts roasting is 100% nicer than any form of hideous taste they produce. But thats my view. Give them a go if you see someone roasting them and see for yourself.
Chestnuts (not conkers) are delicious, also find a recipie and have a go at chestnut stuffing makes the turkey more succulent and far more tasty. Yummmmmmm
or you could go into the supermarket and buy a bag that says "chestnuts". Never tried them either. Brazil nuts are my weakness.

thanks guys, chestnuts always remind me of christmas in a chrismassy card sort of way, but never tried them, i love every other kind of nut though, brazil, almonds, peanuts.
monkey nuts coconuts. taylor, do chestnuts have shells then, i suppose you peel it off after its cookd lol.
Are yo u meant to peel them before roasting? As a kid we'd roast them until they exploded, and salvage what we could, but on an advert I saw Jamie 'my tounge's too big' Oliver roasting what looked like pre-peeled ones? Don't they dry out?
'tongue' - If y'going to make fun of someone, spell it right!!
