Need roots to survive the xmas period.

Central heating accelerates the deterioration

Try to not bring the tree too early indoors

Little but regular watering

Don't dig it up ... where in the Bible does it say ''Kill trees for Xmas''?
With a name like Larch, I thought you may have been a little more sympathetic toward trees. Leave it in the ground and buy an artificial one.

Well said Naz!!
buy a Norman fir which has better needle retention, cut a couple of inches off the trunk when you get it home and put it in water and keep it watered all xmas period.

As for buying an artificial one - Made in China, just think of the Co2 emmisions from there to here against buying a real tree grown in a managed plantation in the UK improving air quality.
make that a Nordman!!
agree with naz ---- nice--- but forget about the bible, no one cares about that at xmas these days, all people , (including me) celebrate at xmas is santas birthday .
I agree with Naz too. I think they are better left in the ground. I did have a real tree one year (my husband wanted it). I felt guilty every time I looked at it and it also whiffed a bit like cats wee. Thought they were supposed to smell all piney! (I didn't have a cat at the time either so can't blame her)

We've got a really nice fake tree and I think its so much better and looks lovely with the lights and things on it.
they are grown as an agricultural crop, a bit like corn. Stop buying real ones and they just wont get planted. If they dont get planted then there wont be any!!!

I did not know that
Oh but what about the wild ones?
Wild ones are not native to this country. Saying that there are many established forests containing firs and pines which are mostly controlled by the forestry department.

No one should remove any plants from the wild and should just buy them from a reputable retailer.
